 Florida Fish Limits

Hey, you dropped it in the water, finders keepers, now leave my ball alone ! (Catfish)

    -The Commission approved the Total Length max measurement method. This new method will take effect July 1, 2006

  •     -

    Recreational grouper bag limits in state waters haven’t changed;
    in federal waters in the Gulf of Mexico, they have. Federal waters begin nine nautical miles offshore in the Gulf.
    A nautical mile is 6,076.115 feet as opposed to a statute mile, which is 5,280 feet.
    In Gulf state waters, the daily bag limit for grouper is five,
    only two of which can be red grouper.
    The new bag limit in federal waters in the Gulf allows three grouper, only one of which can be red. Also, Gulf federal waters are closed to grouper harvest throughout November and December, but there is no closed season in state waters.

    The Florida Recreational Saltwater Fishing Regulations Newsletter, January 2005, Issue Twenty Six, has several omissions. The Snook Daily Recreational Bag Limit has been corrected in some copies, however all copies are incorrect for Blue Crab, Red Grouper, Triple tail and Weakfish.

    These regulations should read as follows:
    Species Daily Recreational Bag Limits

    Crab– Blue 10 gallons whole per person per day
    Grouper– Red 2 per person per day-Gulf

    Snook (All Species) 2 per person per day–Atlantic; 1 per person per day-Gulf, Monroe County, Everglades National Park Triple tail Hook and line gear only (no snatch hooks)

    Weakfish 12" minimum size limit
